Sherlock Holmes: The Pearl of Death (1944)
Based on the Sherlock Holmes short story, The Adventure of the Six Napoleans by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, 1944's The Pearl of Death is from the popular, feature-length series starring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce as the titular team. This one was chosen as a companion to The Lodger from the last post.
As a fan of Sherlock Holmes, and these selections, I am delighted to bring these public domain film and TV gems to you. You can also find them on many public domain channels (both radio and TV). Most consider Rathbone to be the preeminent Sherlock Holmes, and The Pearl of Death is the ninth film featuring the team.
