Terry Pratchett's The Color Of Magic - Part 1

Terry Pratchett's The Color Of Magic - Pt. 1

For all of its popularity, Terry Pratchett's satirical fantasy series, Discworld, has yet to receive a proper, Hollywood adaptation.  However, The Color of Magic features a roster of respectable stars, including Tim Curry, Christopher Lee, and Sean Astin.

Slipstream - 1989

Slipstream

Slipstream, an Apocalyptic, Near-Future sci-fi featuring Mark Hamill and Bill Paxton, is rarely mentioned in Fandom. I have seen it numerous times but I can't tell you what it's about.  I recall the opening sequence being the best part.

Released late in the Dystopian, Post-Apocalyptic Mad Max / Terminator cycle, waning public interest in the sub-genre may have contributed to Slipstream's obscurity but the movie was not well-received by audiences, either.

Stargate: The Definitive History of the Franchise

Stargate: The Definitive History  of the Franchise

Stargate is the only "Star-" anything I kind of like.  The original TV series gets much better in its later seasons and I have several of the spinoffs in my queue.

Honeymoon in Bali (1939)

Honeymoon in Bali stars Fred MacMurray and Madeleine Carroll in a 1939 film which makes heavy use of the prevailing social and cultural trends.

While these values and mores are no longer practiced, and most (if not all) are now frowned upon, the film should not be held to today's social standards; it should be viewed with its historical context in mind.

Like many movies of its time, Gail (Carroll) is a career-minded woman who is determined to remain single, but falls for a man (MacMurray) who wants a more domesticated life.  This was a common theme for rom-coms of the period.

Honeymoon in Bali is also known as Are Husbands Necessary?, My Love for Yours, and a few other titles.

Happy Valentine's Day!
